The tournament will feature a star-studded lineup, including seven of the world’s top ten players. Among them are: Scottie Scheffler (ranked No. 1), Cameron Young (3), Matt Fitzpatrick (4), Russell Henley (6), Chris Gotterup (7), Sam Burns (9), and Xander Schauffele (10). Woods, 50, has not played in any tournament since the 2024 Open Championship. His activity has been limited following a car accident in February 2021, which resulted in multiple leg injuries that required surgery.

In 2024, Woods participated in five tournaments, including all four majors. That same year, he also competed in the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles—an event he hosts. In February, Woods had considered the possibility of playing in a tournament, but it ultimately did not come to fruition.

Woods missed most of the 2026 TGL season, though he returned to compete alongside his team in the finals of this virtual golf league. Just a week ago, Woods was spotted practicing at the driving range of the Monterey Peninsula Country Club in California.

The Rules of Golf are a set of standard regulations and procedures according to which the sport of golf should be played. They are jointly written and administered by The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews—the governing body for golf worldwide, excluding the United States and Mexico, which fall under the jurisdiction of the United States Golf Association (USGA). An expert committee, composed of members from both the R&A and the USGA, oversees and refines the rules every four years. The most recent revision has been in effect since January 1, 2016. Changes to the Rules of Golf generally fall into two main categories: those that improve clarity and understanding, and those that, in certain instances, reduce penalties to ensure a fair balance. The rulebook, titled «Rules of Golf,» is published on a regular basis and also includes regulations governing amateur status. In Italy, the Italian Golf Federation (Federgolf) is responsible for overseeing competitions and ensuring compliance with the rules established by the R&A; it monitors adherence to these regulations by golf clubs, associations, and their registered members, manages any resulting sports-related disciplinary matters, and safeguards their interests abroad.
