Former LIV Golf player Eugenio Chacarra has admitted that he has nothing bad to say about his former league, with the Spaniard delighted after securing another DP World Tour victory and moving closer to his PGA Tour dream.
The 26-year-old continued his successful season by winning the DP World India Championship on Sunday, finishing at 21-under par and two shots ahead of Daniel Hillier.
It was his third victory of the 2026 season, having previously won the KLM Open and Italian Open in June.
Chacarra has now moved ahead of Patrick Reed in the Race to Dubai standings, while Rory McIlroy is another player trying to catch him before the season ends.
The Spaniard previously spent three seasons on LIV Golf, joining the Saudi-backed league in 2022 when he was one of the best amateur players in the world.
However, after leaving LIV at the end of 2024, the Madrid-born golfer decided to pursue a different path, hoping to compete in the biggest tournaments and eventually earn a PGA Tour card.
Speaking after his victory in India, Chacarra stressed that he was grateful for everything LIV Golf had given him.
«Yeah, when I left LIV I wanted to be in majors, be in Ryder Cups, win tournaments on the DP World Tour, be on the PGA Tour. That’s what I dreamt of since I was little,» Chacarra said.
«Obviously when I grew up LIV wasn’t in existence, but when LIV came up, as one of the best amateurs in the world they offered me something that I couldn’t say no to. I’m very thankful for that. My time there was great.»

The Spanish golfer also pointed out that LIV had helped him financially and allowed him to build a team around himself.
«It helped a lot of things for my career. I can have a great team surrounding me thanks to LIV. I can travel a little better. I can go to nicer hotels. I can give my family and my future family a great life.»
Chacarra explains why he decided to leave LIV Golf
Although Chacarra is now enjoying a lot of success on the DP World Tour, his departure from LIV was not without difficulties.
His contract with Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs GC was not renewed after the 2024 season, and the Spaniard decided against trying to return through LIV Promotions.
In January 2025, he spoke about his frustration with the limited opportunities to earn world ranking points and qualify for Grand Slam-equivalent golf tournaments, known as the majors.
«I see what it’s like to win on the PGA Tour and how your life changes. How you get major access and ranking points. On LIV, nothing changes; there is only money,» he said at the time.
«When I joined LIV, they promised OWGR and majors. But it didn’t happen. I trusted them.»
Despite those earlier complaints, the 26-year-old now has a positive opinion about his three years in the league.
«So I’m always grateful to LIV. Nothing bad to say. My time was done. Decided with my team and family that the next step was ready for me,» he explained after his latest victory.
«Like I said, I believe in myself. I believe I can be one of the best players in the world, and that’s what I wake up every single morning dreaming, of being one of the best players in the world.»

Before joining LIV, Chacarra played college golf at Oklahoma State University and reached No. 2 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
He won his first professional title at LIV Golf Bangkok in October 2022, finishing three shots ahead of Reed.
However, he struggled to repeat that success during his next two seasons and eventually left the competition.
Chacarra now has a chance to achieve his PGA Tour dream
After leaving LIV, the Spaniard initially had limited opportunities on the DP World Tour.
He received invitations to several tournaments and used one of them to win the Hero Indian Open in May 2025, which helped him secure his playing rights on the European circuit.
The following year brought even better results.
In June, Chacarra won two tournaments, first in the Netherlands and then in Italy.
His latest victory in India was another important moment, with the former LIV player recording rounds of 67, 67, 63 and 70 at Delhi Golf Club.
Chacarra previously said that he wanted to earn a PGA Tour card through his DP World Tour performances rather than return to LIV.

Earlier this season, he also participated in US Open qualifying in Dallas but left a playoff for an alternate position because he needed to travel to Belgium for another tournament.
The Spaniard is now in a good position to secure PGA Tour membership for 2027, while he also hopes to compete in all four majors next year.
«Hopefully this will move me up pretty good on the ranking and I could be confirmed for next year’s four majors. It will be my first Masters and I am lucky now that I played the other three,» Chacarra said.
The 26-year-old is expected to play at the Genesis Championship in South Korea next week, where he will try to extend his advantage over Reed and McIlroy in the Race to Dubai standings.
