“I’m obviously very happy,” Maicas declared. “The day didn’t start off well, but I found my rhythm as I went along, holed some crucial putts, and got myself back in contention. I came very close to winning in regulation on the final hole. My season got off to a slow start, but after a short break—I decided to skip last week’s tournament to rest and arrive at Biarritz fresh—things turned around. This victory changes everything, especially given how competitive the Order of Merit race is.”

Maximilien Sturdza also enjoyed a fantastic week—his best of the Alps Tour season: “I got off to a flying start and played a great round, finishing with birdies and an eagle. It’s a shame about the playoff, but it’s a very encouraging result.” With this victory, Maicas collects €8,100 and 6,525 Order of Merit points, moving significantly closer to the top of the standings. Meanwhile, Mario Galiano Aguilar—who finished seventh this week—has climbed to fifth place overall.

The Alps Tour now heads into its summer break and will return to action with the Longwy Alps Open, scheduled for September 3–5 at Golf Longwy International in France. With few events remaining, every Order of Merit point is crucial in the race to qualify for the Hulencourt Alps Tour Grand Final 2026 and secure promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour.
