Brandt Snedeker was delighted after watching the United States complete an impressive comeback at the Presidents Cup, but one of his comments quickly turned attention toward the 2027 Ryder Cup.

The Americans were in a difficult position before Sunday’s singles at Medinah Country Club.

They were trailing the International Team 10.5-7.5 and needed a much better day after struggling during several team sessions.

What followed was quite different.

The United States collected 9.5 of the available 12 points in singles and completed a 17-13 victory, continuing their long period of dominance in the Presidents Cup.

For Snedeker, there was also some personal relief.

Only one day earlier, the 46-year-old admitted that he was not satisfied with some of his decisions as captain.

“I tried to work my tail off to put these guys in the best situation possible, and I don’t think I’ve done a very good job this week to be where we are right now,” Snedeker said.

He also claimed he had not done enough for his players.

“They look to me to put them in the best position where they’re comfortable. I hold myself to a high standard. I don’t think I’ve done the best job for them in that room.”

His mood was different after Sunday’s comeback.

Speaking after the victory, Snedeker defended the mentality inside the American team.

The former FedEx Cup champion stressed that he was tired of hearing suggestions that American golfers do not care about team competitions in the same way as their European rivals.

“It doesn’t mean anything for me, it means more for USA golf,” Snedeker said.

“I think we’re all tired of this narrative that we don’t care about each other, that we don’t know how to play team golf. I think this proves it.

You don’t come back the way we did if these guys haven’t all bought into each other. This team is going to be a problem in Ireland. It’s going to be a problem.”

Ireland will host the next Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in 2027.

Luke Donald will once again captain Europe, while Jim Furyk will lead the United States.

Donald has already enjoyed huge success in the competition.

He captained Europe to victory in Rome in 2023 and then helped his team win at Bethpage Black in 2025. Another victory in Ireland would give the Englishman three consecutive Ryder Cup wins as captain.

The Americans, on the other hand, have not won a Ryder Cup on European soil since 1993 at The Belfry. That record will certainly be discussed many times before Adare Manor.

Snedeker’s words quickly attracted attention, with some fans on social media saying that Team Europe could use them as extra motivation before the Ryder Cup.

Donald and his players have already shown in the past that they do not forget comments coming from the American side before big team events.

USA had a similar situation before Bethpage

There is already a recent example of comments from an American captain being used by the European team.

After the United States won the 2024 Presidents Cup in Montreal, Keegan Bradley gave an emotional speech inside the team room. The comment later appeared in the Netflix series Full Swing.

Bradley told his players that the United States would go to Bethpage and “kick their ******* ***.”

Donald did not forget those words.

The European captain later had the quote displayed inside the Team Europe room before the 2025 Ryder Cup. Europe eventually won 15-13 in New York.

Snedeker’s latest comment is not as aggressive, but it will probably not go unnoticed inside the European camp.

The former world No. 4 was speaking only moments after an emotional Presidents Cup victory, and he had good reason to praise his players.

Sunday produced the biggest singles performance in Presidents Cup history for an American team.

Snedeker also admitted that being captain had been more difficult than he expected.

“I don’t think anybody knows what’s the weight a captain carries on their shoulders all week,” he said.

“You’re not just making a decision that affects you, you’re making a decision that ripple affects the whole team, people’s families, people’s lives. Every decision you make carries a serious consequence.”

Furyk will have that responsibility in Ireland next year.

The 56-year-old has already captained the United States in the Ryder Cup before, leading the team during their defeat at Le Golf National in 2018.

After the Presidents Cup, Furyk said he was still learning from different captains, team rooms and ideas.

“I’ve seen a lot of lineups; I’ve seen a lot of team rooms. I think you’re always learning,” Furyk said.

The United States can certainly take a lot of optimism from what happened at Medinah, particularly after recovering from three points behind on the final day.

For many players, the Ryder Cup is a prestigious tournament that brings serious challenges and much more pressure.

The American team will also face a quality Team Europe side, which has shown in the last few editions that it has many players capable of making a difference.

The Americans want revenge after the defeat at Bethpage Black. On the other side, the Europeans have enough confidence after winning the previous edition, while they may also feel a little less pressure because they will play at home.
