Brandel Chamblee had a lot of praise for the United States team after they produced a very unusual final day at the Presidents Cup.

You go back to the beginnings of 1994 and the Presidents Cup and the US team has never won more than eight points.»

The numbers were certainly different from what the fans saw during the first three days.

The International team produced a 5-0 sweep in Friday foursomes and for the first time in Presidents Cup history held a Sunday lead on American soil.

Ogilvy’s team needed only five points from 12 singles matches to win the trophy. Instead, the Americans started collecting points quite quickly.

Cameron Young defeated Ryo Hisatsune in the opening match, while Justin Thomas beat Adam Scott 5&3.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler also added a point after defeating Nico Echavarria. Jackson Koivun, one of the youngest members of the American team, beat Si Woo Kim.

Chris Gotterup defeated Hideki Matsuyama, while Patrick Cantlay also delivered an important victory against Tom Kim.

Jacob Bridgeman eventually produced the result which made sure the trophy remained in American hands, defeating Min Woo Lee.

Chamblee pointed out that the difference between the two teams became much more visible when the tournament moved to individual matches.

«What happened today was what was predicted to happen all week long, given the disparity between the International team and the US team.

You have to tip your cap to the International team that they made it interesting for the first three days.

But today the International team was forced to play five players in all four matches coming into the singles and perhaps there was some fatigue there. Just perhaps finally the United States team and all of their talent came to the fore.»

The United States players had received a lot of criticism before Sunday.

Their Friday foursomes performance created many questions, while Snedeker also admitted before the singles that some of his decisions had not worked as he wanted.

The captain even decided to leave Scheffler out of Saturday afternoon foursomes.

However, singles have been a different story for American players in recent team events.

Chamblee also compared what happened at Medinah to the final day of the 2025 Ryder Cup.

«When you look at the final result, nine and a half to two and a half, and go back to 2025 and the final day of the Ryder Cup. Look at what happened today. In the final day in the singles of the Ryder Cup in 2025 Europe only won one match, today the Internationals only won two matches,» he said.

The victory also continued a long period of American success in this competition.

Medinah looked like it could finally bring another International victory after Saturday.

The American players had another plan on Sunday and their singles golf completely changed the situation.

The next Presidents Cup will be played in 2028, while many members of this US team will first turn their attention toward the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Ireland.
