There are many ways to describe what Scottie Scheffler has been doing on the PGA Tour over the last few years.

Winning tournaments is obviously the first thing that comes to mind, but his consistency perhaps tells an even better story.

The American does not need to have his best golf to finish near the top. Even during weeks when things do not completely work, Scottie somehow finds his name high on the leaderboard.

That part of his game has now caught the attention of former PGA Tour player Colt Knost, who believes he has not seen anything similar since Tiger Woods.

Scheffler ended his PGA Tour season by winning the Tour Championship at East Lake, his third victory of 2026. It was also his 22nd PGA Tour title since taking his first one at the WM Phoenix Open in February 2022.

At the age of 30, the world No. 1 has already reached numbers that naturally create comparisons with some of the biggest names golf has seen.

Knost compares Scheffler’s consistency with Tiger

Speaking on the Sub Par podcast, Knost explained that Scheffler’s attitude is one of the things he respects the most.

“He shows up to compete, whether it’s at Royal Oaks Country Club playing with the boys, or on the PGA Tour, or a major championship, he shows up to compete every day, and that’s what I respect about him so much,” Knost said.

The former professional then mentioned a statistic which surprised him even more.

“In his last 100 events on the PGA Tour, he obviously has 22 wins, but he has 58 top-5s! The guy doesn’t play bad. That percentage right there is just ridiculous.

I’ve never seen anything like it other than Tiger Woods, but to put yourself in there week after week after week and just never have an off day.”

For Knost, the difference is not only what Scheffler does when everything feels good. Every professional golfer experiences days when his body hurts, his mind is somewhere else or he simply does not want to be on the course.

“Look, I played this game for a living. Some days you show up, you feel like —-, your body hurts.

Maybe something’s going on off the golf course, you’re distracted, and you’re like, I don’t want to be here.

And you kind of just go through the motions, you go out there, you play bad, and you call it a week.

Scottie Scheffler does not do that.”

His numbers support Knost’s view. Scheffler has 69 top-five finishes and 89 top-10 finishes in 170 PGA Tour starts during his career.

Scheffler almost never has a bad tournament

Finding genuinely poor weeks from Scheffler has become difficult.

His missed cut at the Genesis Scottish Open in July was his first since the FedEx St. Jude Championship in August 2022. Before Scotland, he had made 78 consecutive PGA Tour cuts, by far the longest active streak at the time.

Knost was willing to forgive that result.

“I know he missed the cut at the Scottish Open. I’ll give that one a pass just because you’re travelling to a different time zone. It’s a long flight over to Scotland to play over there,” he said.

“And you have to go all the way back to the 2024 U.S. Open, where he finished 54th or whatever after winning The Memorial the week before on basically a major championship venue.

That’s going back to 2024. You pick out two weeks where it’s like, yeah, he didn’t have it.

He was okay, yeah. It wasn’t like it was some sort of disaster.”

Scheffler quickly answered the Scottish Open disappointment by returning to contention at The Open the following week.

His 2026 season finished with three victories: The American Express, the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the Tour Championship. The win at East Lake also gave him a second FedExCup title and moved him to 22 career PGA Tour victories.

He did not win a Grand Slam tournament this season, but his consistency never really disappeared. Scheffler had five runner-up finishes during the year and ended it once again as the world No. 1.

The Tiger comparisons will probably continue if those numbers keep growing. Tiger reached a level of dominance that few golfers have ever approached, so Scheffler has a long road before anyone can seriously put their careers on the same level.

The experienced golfer has often stressed that he is not focused on any records, but rather on every next challenge that comes, approaching each one with full focus.
