Sale, who started the final round from fourth place, also had to overcome an early double bogey. His comeback was spectacular: an eagle and five birdies for a solid 68 (-4), putting him one length ahead of Denmark’s Hamish Brown, second with 277 (-11).

Italy had a positive week with two players on the podium. Jacopo Vecchi Fossa and Lorenzo Scalise finished in third place at 278 (-10), joined by England’s Alfie Plant, South Africa’s MJ Viljoen, and Norway’s Kristian Krogh Johannessen. All five fought for the win until the final holes.

Vecchi Fossa finished with a 70 (-2, with three birdies and a bogey), moving up one spot. Finishing eighth at 279 (-9) were Sweden’s Adam Wallin, Belgium’s James Meyer De Beco, Portugal’s Pedro Figueiredo, and England’s Charlie Forster. Matteo Cristoni failed to make the cut (110th, +4).

Located about 100 km north of Paris, between the Seine River and one of its tributaries, the Eure, the course is a relatively flat parkland course stretching approximately 6,400 meters (par 72). It’s not very long, but it presents a severe test for players thanks to numerous water hazards and a thick, punishing rough, ready to punish inaccurate drives. Another fascinating feature is the clubhouse: a converted 17th-century barn with a distinctive thatched roof, among the most original on the circuit.

The Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge boasts a top-notch list of honors. In 2017, Aaron Rai (later winner of the 2026 PGA Championship) triumphed by five shots, taking his third victory of the season and earning promotion to the DP World Tour. Other prestigious former champions include Ryan Fox (2015), Andrew «Beef» Johnston (2014), Alexander Björk, Richard McEvoy, and Darren Fichardt.

Curiously, in 13 editions, no home player has ever won: French fans are hoping for this edition. The defending champion is England’s David Horsey, who won a thrilling four-man playoff in 2025 with a birdie on the first extra hole.
