But as the first of eight decisive events for the final FedExCup rankings approaches, the two Frenchmen have chosen different paths.

The entry list for the Biltmore Championship at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove in North Carolina, released Friday evening, shows only Matthieu Pavon’s name alongside players from the US Presidents Cup team.

This is a logical choice given how close the Frenchman is to the top 100. A strong start could quickly improve his standing and bring him closer to the zone that would secure his playing rights for 2027.

This priority is all the more critical given that the exemption earned through his victory at the Farmers Insurance Open in January 2024 expires at the end of this season. After a difficult summer on the PGA Tour, Pavon had clearly stated his intentions after missing the cut at the Wyndham Championship: «No matter how long it takes, things are going to change.» He added that he was now fully focused on the FedExCup Fall events.

Adrien Saddier, for his part, will not be in North Carolina.

The player from Haute-Savoie has chosen to remain in Europe and compete—during the same week—in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, one of the most prestigious events on the DP World Tour calendar.

After missing the cut at Crans-sur-Sierre, the world number 152 appears to be prioritizing a return to Europe next season.

Sitting very (perhaps too?) far outside the FedExCup top 100, has Saddier decided to forgo another season across the Atlantic in order to focus on the exciting conclusion to the DP World Tour season?

His decision to play at Wentworth is also influenced by his performance in Surrey last year; the 2025 Italian Open winner came agonizingly close to victory.

It was undoubtedly one of the finest performances of his career, as he was defeated only in a playoff by Alex Noren. That showing played a major role in his ninth-place finish in the Race to Dubai and in securing his PGA Tour playing rights for 2026.

This split in schedules will last only one week.

Both Pavon and Saddier plan to compete in the FedEx Open de France, held from September 24 to 27 at Le Golf National.

While the Bordeaux native has already announced that he will return immediately to the US to continue his FedExCup Fall campaign, uncertainty remains regarding the rest of the season for the player from Ésery.

He has yet to finalize the details of his US schedule following the Open de France. His situation is far more complicated than his compatriot’s. With just 70 points earned this season and a ranking of 177th in the FedExCup, the Frenchman will need major results if he hopes to climb back into the top 100.

It is worth noting, however, that each of the eight FedExCup Fall tournaments awards 500 points to the winner, and a victory also secures a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour.
