The golf qualification process for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games is now officially underway. Olympic Golf Ranking (OGR) points will count toward qualification for the women’s competition starting June 8, 2026, and for the men’s competition starting June 22, 2026. The qualification period for the women’s competition will close on June 5, 2028, while the qualification period for the men’s competition will close on June 19, 2028.

The Olympic golf competition will be held at Riviera Country Club, one of the world’s most iconic golf courses.

The competition will feature 60 women and 60 men competing in individual stroke play events, and qualification will be determined by the OGR. There will also be a 16-team mixed tournament, a new addition since the sport’s return to the Olympic program in 2016. Each mixed team will consist of one woman and one man from the same country who have already qualified for their respective individual competitions.

According to the qualification system for the individual competitions, golfers ranked in the top 15 of the OGR will be eligible to qualify, with a maximum of four athletes per country and gender. Outside the top 15, countries may qualify up to two athletes per gender.

Each of the five Olympic continents will have guaranteed representation in both the women’s and men’s competitions through continental qualification slots, if necessary.

For men’s competition, the Olympic ranking recognizes eligible tournaments sanctioned by tours recognized by the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). For women’s competition, the OGR recognizes eligible tournaments played on tours recognized by the Women’s World Golf Ranking (WWGR).
