Now if he keeps doing that and the way the golf course is playing, hard and fast, I think we all agree, strategy will be key to becoming Champion Golfer of the Year, so I do wish him all the best. If he keeps it going and keeps playing well, maybe he will be right there on Sunday to be the Champion Golfer of the Year.”

Bryson’s comments

As a reminder, Bryson DeChambeau mentioned strategy several times after the first round, apparently wanting to mock Sir Nick Faldo’s comments, who was critical of his approach.

«It was a hard-fought battle out there as the wind was switching quite a bit,» DeChambeau said. «It was fun just seeing the ups and downs of the group [him, Scottie Scheffler and Tyrrell Hatton]. We all played pretty well, so it was a lot of fun.

Expectations
