Jon Rahm has again avoided giving a clear answer about his LIV Golf future, saying that he expects to speak more openly only when the current season is finished.

The Spaniard has been one of the main names involved in questions around LIV Golf after the league filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. LIV is trying to restructure and there is still no clear picture of what the competition will look like in 2027.

Rahm was asked about his situation before the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. The 31-year-old said the legal process still has to develop before players can know what options they have.

“Well, there’s a long legal process they have to go through before a lot of things fall into place. I really can’t give you an answer right now,” Rahm said.

“Like I said, I’m very close to expecting our fourth. Hopefully playing good this week, and at the end of the year, whether we play in Abu Dhabi, Dubai or elsewhere, so until this current season is done, I really won’t be able to give you an answer.”

Rahm is expecting his fourth child with his wife Kelley Cahill. Before the Irish Open, he admitted that golf had not been the first thing on his mind after returning home from the final part of the LIV season.

Rahm has refused to make promises about LIV

Questions about the former world No. 1 increased after LIV filed for bankruptcy protection in New Jersey. The league listed liabilities between $500 million and $1 billion and is trying to build a smaller version for next season. Rahm is also among the players owed money by the organization.

Ahead of the Irish Open, Rahm said he still had a contract with what he called “LIV 1.0” and was willing to respect that deal.

“I still have a contract with LIV 1.0 at this point,” the Spanish golfer said.

He also used a simple answer when asked what will happen next: “Time will tell.”

The situation is different from the one Rahm joined at the end of 2023. LIV had large financial backing from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, but that support has changed and the league is looking for new investors while going through bankruptcy proceedings.

Some players have already returned to traditional tours. Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed are among the golfers who found routes back, while Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau remain two of the biggest names whose future is not decided.

Rahm has not said that he wants to leave LIV, but he has also stopped short of guaranteeing that he will be part of a new version of the league.

Rahm says DP World Tour has a chance

Rahm was also asked if the uncertainty around LIV could help the DP World Tour.

“To be able to answer that, I think we need to know how exactly LIV 2.0 is going to shape up. I think this is another opportunity for the DP World Tour to make some adjustments and gain some strength. That’s a hundred percent,” he said.

“I think the Tour’s in a good spot, and with the changes coming in the future, mainly in ’28 on the PGA Tour, Guy and his team are going to have to change some things, but that always opens doors to strengthen some areas.

“I think this next year and a half, year, is going to be possibly important to hopefully elevate the DP World Tour a little bit more.”

Rahm still has good reasons to keep playing regular DP World Tour events. He has represented Europe in four Ryder Cups and was part of the winning teams in 2018, 2023 and 2025. The next Ryder Cup will be played at Adare Manor in Ireland in 2027.

His LIV results have also remained quite good. Rahm won the season-long individual title for the third year in a row in 2026. He won in Hong Kong and Mexico City and finished far ahead in the standings. Legion XIII also won the team championship again.

The results in the four biggest golf championships were more mixed. Rahm finished tied for 38th at the Masters, tied for second at the PGA Championship, missed the cut at the U.S. Open and finished tied for 46th at The Open. He is currently No. 14 in the world ranking.

The Spaniard is aware that speaking openly about everything could create problems both for himself and for his colleagues in the controversial league.

There is no doubt that a lot of new information could become known in the coming weeks. For now, Jon Rahm is focused on his career and the challenges he still has on LIV Golf.
