Spanish golfer Jon Rahm has moved up to eighth in the world rankings after his second-place finish at the LIV tournament at Valderrama (Cádiz), a position he hadn’t held for two years.

At the beginning of February, when the Basque golfer started his third season on LIV, he was ranked 97th, and four months later, he has broken into the top ten, after reaching twelfth place last week.

The last time the ‘Lion of Barrika’ held the eighth position was on June 9, 2024.

The fact that Saudi Arabian League tournaments began awarding points toward the world ranking at the start of this season has been the decisive factor in Rahm’s rise to the top of the rankings.

Sergio García, fourth in the Cádiz tournament, climbs in the rankings to 164th, behind Ángel Ayora (108th), Josele Ballester (125th), Nacho Elvira (140th), and Jorge Campillo (163rd).

The world rankings continue to be led by American Scottie Scheffler, with 16,070 points, ahead of Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy (9,790) and fellow American Cameron Young (7,210), while Rahm has 5,001 points.
