The news comes after the decision to remove both the Sony Open and The Sentry from the main PGA Tour schedule. This decision initially left the islands without any top-level professional events. Fortunately, the 2027 agreement has saved the tradition.

Here are the details of the new event:
It will be played from January 11 to 16, 2027.
It will remain at its historic and iconic home, the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.
There will be a whopping $3 million up for grabs.
Two days of Pro-Am and three days of official competition, broadcast by Golf Channel.

«We are thrilled to host this tournament,» said Miller Brady, senior tour president. «Sony has been an incredible partner since 1999, and we can’t wait to begin this new era with golf legends.»
Hawaii Governor Josh Green and Waialae President Meredith Ching also expressed great pride in the sport’s deep connection to the «Aloha Spirit» and the local community.

The Sony Open (formerly the Hawaiian Open): Founded in 1965, it is one of the longest-running tournaments in the world. Sony became the main sponsor in 1999 (even producing it in 3D the year the new technology was launched, which was then quickly abandoned). The Waialae Country Club course, with its historic rows of palm trees and the Pacific Ocean breeze, is a true golf monument.
The Sentry (formerly the Tournament of Champions): This special tournament moved to Hawaii (on the island of Maui, on the Kapalua course) in 1999. For years, it represented the very first and exclusive stop of the year, reserved only for the winners of the previous year’s tournaments.
