Italian golfer Andrea Pavan has announced on social media that his health has improved after the accident he suffered six months ago and that he remains hopeful of returning to play.

«I feel extremely blessed to be able to live a normal life. Now, I still have hope of returning to competition,» commented Pavan, who fell down an elevator shaft from the third floor last February.

The Italian is already going to the golf course and starting to play. He admitted that «the pain isn’t too bad at the moment,» but that he does feel «a lot of stiffness,» in an interview with Bunkered.

The 37-year-old golfer is combining strength and mobility training sessions with physiotherapy to recover from the injuries he suffered to his shoulder and several vertebrae, which required surgery on the same day he was admitted to a Cape Town hospital.

The accident occurred on the eve of the South African Open, part of the European Tour, in which he was scheduled to participate from February 26 to March 1, in the town of Stellenbosch, in the southwest of the country, near Cape Town.
