Jon Rahm and Legion XIII may not have the opportunity to defend their LIV League titles in August. With four tournaments remaining in the 2026 season, LIV could suspend the season due to a lack of funding, according to Front Office Sports.

The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, the source of funding for LIV and its lucrative player contracts and tournament prize money, announced in April that it would only fund LIV through the end of the 2026 season. To date, it has invested approximately $6 billion in LIV.

But after Tyrrell Hatton won the LIV Andalucía on Sunday, LIV will take a 47-day break to accommodate the US Open and the British Open, and the league could look different—or not return—after that hiatus, according to Front Office Sports.

“All the remaining tournaments are up in the air,” an executive from one of LIV’s partners told this publication.

“Honestly, I don’t think anyone knows,” the executive continued. “LIV doesn’t know if the PIF will shut down or when it will.”

The scheduled events are: LIV UK, July 23-26 at JCB Golf & Country Club in Rocester, England; LIV New York, August 6-9 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey; LIV Golf Indianapolis, August 20-23 at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Indiana (individual championship); and LIV Golf Michigan, August 27-30 at The Cardinal at Saint John’s in Plymouth, Michigan (team championship). LIV New Orleans, scheduled for July, has already been canceled.

Front Office Sports speculated that the LIV New York event in early August could likely proceed without issue at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster due to President Donald Trump’s favorable relationship with Saudi Arabia.

However, the same level of confidence does not exist regarding the other two U.S. tournaments. “I don’t think they’ll ever make it to Michigan,” Front Office Sports reported, citing “a prominent figure in the golf industry with professional ties to both LIV and PGA Tour players.”

LIV, meanwhile, is trying to hold on until 2026 and restart next year without Saudi Arabia’s participation.

“We continue to see strong momentum both on and off the course,” LIV CEO Scott O’Neil said in a statement to Front Office Sports. “We have begun sharing our business plan with potential partners who recognize the opportunity that team golf presents on a global scale.”

LIV is making presentations to potential investors and working with an investment bank advisor. It is also cutting costs where possible and developing a plan to reduce tournament prize money.
