Corey Pavin hit one of those shots that are remembered for winning a major. He connected with a powerful wood from 228 yards (208 meters), leaving the ball just shy of the pin on the final hole of the 1995 tournament. He won the title, with Greg Norman finishing second. For Pavin, this victory represented his only major championship and coincided with the tournament’s centennial.

Retief Goosen (2004)
Three years after his victory at Southern Hills, South African Retief Goosen made a crucial birdie on the 16th hole and watched as Phil Mickelson made a double bogey on the par-3 17th, giving him half the title. Goosen, who started the day with a three-stroke lead, found himself tied after the 15th hole, but managed to pull away at that point to win his second US Open.

Brooks Koepka (2018)
Brooks Koepka successfully defended his title, thanks to a round of 68 strokes on Sunday. Only Ben Hogan (1951) and Curtis Strange (1989) had previously achieved this feat. Koepka won by one stroke over Tommy Fleetwood, who closed the tournament with a spectacular 63.
