According to Golf Digest, Phil Mickelson was kicked out of a golf club near his home in San Diego where he was a member after being accused of having an inappropriate interaction with an employee earlier this year.

GD explains that ‘Lefty’ approached a woman at The Farms golf club in Rancho Santa Fe, just before going out to play a round, and «had inappropriate physical contact without her consent.» The woman reportedly rejected his advances and shortly after reported what happened to her superiors.

The specialized golf publication details that “the club’s directors took the accusation seriously and acted quickly.” In the middle of his match, Mickelson was intercepted by field officials and «asked to leave the facility.»

The six-time Major winner, who has been married to his wife Amy for 30 years, declined to comment to Golf Digest. His agent told the media: «Any misunderstanding has been cleared up.»

For its part, The Farms Golf Club stated in a statement that all its «members are required to comply with our code of conduct, and any allegations of misconduct are taken very seriously.»

A representative for The Farms clarified to Golf Digest: «Following a staff member’s complaint about a member’s misconduct, the Club provided immediate and ongoing support to that member, conducted a thorough independent investigation into the incident and took decisive action. This individual is no longer a member of The Farms Golf Club.»

Mickelson this year has only played the LIV event held in South Africa and has not played any Major because he is focused on a health problem with a member of his family.
