Finland’s Tapio Pulkkanen returned to success on the HotelPlanner Tour after nine years. With a 270 (71, 63, 63, 73, -18) shot, he won the Danish Golf Challenge title at the Odense Eventyr Golf course (par 72), in the city from which the club takes its name in Denmark. Matteo Cristoni finished 20th with a 277 (-11) and Aron Zemmer 47th with a 281 (-7).

Pulkkanen finished tied with Frenchman Maxence Giboudot (270 – 70, 67, 63, 70, -18), having caught him with a birdie on the final green after a round with an over-par score (73, +1, one eagle, three birdies, three bogeys, one triple bogey), and then surpassed him with an eagle on the first extra hole against the Frenchman’s birdie.

In third place with a 272 (-16) is Spaniard Juan Salama, winner of a Mena Golf Tour event this season, and Swedes Algot Kleen and Adam Wallin. In sixth place with a 273 (-15) are Denmark’s Martin Simonsen and Ireland’s Liam Nolan.

Pulkkanen, 36, from Kotka, a pro since 2013, secured his second title on the tour in a row at the 2017 Kazakhstan Open, also winning a playoff (against Chase Koepka). He also boasts eight victories in the Nordic Golf League. He was rewarded with a €48,000 prize from a €300,000 prize pool.

Matteo Cristoni (73 68 66 70), a 24-year-old from Modena, finished 20th for the second time this season, after finishing in the Italian Challenge Open, and cashed in all four tournaments. Aron Zemmer (71 69 72 69, -7), a 35-year-old from Bolzano, playing his third tournament, previously finished ninth at the DP World PGTI Open in India. Jacopo Vecchi Fossa failed to make the cut, finishing 81st with a score of 143 (71 72, -1).
