Francesco Molinari, 43, from Turin, played in three Ryder Cups as a player, winning all of them. In 2010 (with his brother Edoardo) at the Celtic Manor Resort in Wales (14.5-13.5), then in 2012 he took part in the extraordinary comeback in the singles in what was called the “miracle of Medinah” in Illinois (14.5-13.5 after being down 6-10 in the doubles) and scored the decisive half-point to draw with Tiger Woods. Finally in Paris in 2018 (17.5-10.5) he was the first European to win all five matches. In the same year he became the only Italian to win a major (Open Championship in Carnoustie). He has won six titles on the DP World Tour, including two in the Italian Open (2006, 2016) and one in the Rolex Series (BMW PGA Championship, 2018). He won the 2018 continental Race to Dubai (order of merit) and two victories on the PGA Tour (the 2018 Quicken Loans National and the 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational). Both as a player and as vice-captain, he is undefeated in the Ryder Cup, like his brother Edoardo (in the field, as mentioned, in 2010) and like Donald, four in the competition (2004, 2006, 2010, 2012).
