At the Interwetten Open, the only stop on the HotelPlanner Tour calendar in Austria, Czech Filip Mruzek earned his first victory on the tour with a total of 258 shots (-18). On the Schladming-Dachstein Golf Club course (par 69) in Oberhaus, in the picturesque Styrian setting, Mruzek edged South African Louis Albertse by one point (259, -17).

Italy enjoyed a top-notch performance thanks to Andrea Romano. The 25-year-old Roman, fresh from three wins on the Alps Tour that secured him immediate access to the HotelPlanner Tour, finished in seventh place with a 263 shot (-13) and an excellent final round of 64 (-5, with seven birdies and two bogeys). Starting in 17th place after three rounds, Romano climbed the rankings with a strong finish, confirming his excellent form.

Interwetten Open, results

Jacopo Vecchi Fossa finished 12th with a 264 (-12) and a final score of 68 (-1). Aron Zemmer also performed well, finishing 35th with a 269 (-7), while Lorenzo Scalise and Matteo Cristoni finished 46th with a 271 (-5).

Mruzek, a 34-year-old from Marianske Lazne who has been a professional since 2010, handled the final round with great clarity. Starting in joint lead with Peruvian Julian Perico after a third round of 63 (-6), he closed with a solid 65 (-4), holding off a comeback from Albertse, who made an eagle on the final hole but was unable to force a playoff. The winner received a €48,000 check from a total prize pool of €300,000. It was the ninth edition of the event, which during the first seven years was called the Euram Bank Open.

The tournament was played on a course widely referred to as the «Pebble Beach of the Alps,» located approximately 750 meters above sea level in the Ennstal Valley. Romano once again demonstrated his ability to compete at the highest level, having dominated the Alps Tour in the first half of the season.

Following Matthew Southgate’s resounding victory at the Swiss Challenge, the HotelPlanner Tour moves to Austria for the second edition of the Interwetten Open, scheduled for June 11–14, 2026, at the Schladming-Dachstein Golf Club.

Nicknamed the «Pebble Beach of the Alps,» the Schladming-Dachstein course is located in the picturesque Ennstal Valley, approximately 750 meters above sea level, and is consistently ranked among the top 15 of over 170 golf courses in Austria. Surrounded by imposing mountains rising over 2,500 meters, a popular destination for winter skiing, it offers breathtaking views that make every shot an unforgettable experience.

Founded in 1987 by renowned Austrian rally driver Franz Wittmann (12-time national champion and current club president), the course was designed by two-time Masters winner Bernhard Langer. Among the signature holes are the short, par-3 6th, just 137 meters, treacherous due to shallow water and a huge bunker protecting the front and right sides of the green, and the 18th, voted Austria’s most beautiful par-5: a challenging hole that requires precision from the tee (with a small grove in the center of the fairway) to the island-shaped final green.

In 2025, Austrian Maximilian Steinlechner won the title with a brilliant 64 in the final round, winning by two shots on his home course. That victory proved decisive: the 26-year-old Tyrolean finished third in the Road to Mallorca, earning a spot on the DP World Tour. Steinlechner continued to shine, finishing seventh at the Austrian Alpine Open and third at the KLM Open, confirming his competitiveness on the big stage.

Austria has hosted events on the circuit since 1992, when Welshman Stephen Dodd won. Previously, the event was the Euram Bank Open in Adamstal (also owned by the Wittmann family), with victories for Frank Kennedy (2024) and Casey Jarvis (2023), the latter of whom later promoted to the DP World Tour.

Local favorites include Lukas Nemecz, the Austrian leader of the Road to Mallorca (currently ranked around 40th), who will be looking to bounce back after failing to qualify for the Rolex Grand Final last year, and Matthias Schwab. The latter, recovering from physical problems that cost him his DP World and PGA Tour entry, will be playing virtually at home, just minutes from his birthplace in Schladming, aiming to relaunch his season. Numerous other Austrian talents will round out the home team.

Italy will be well represented by a group of motivated players. Andrea Romano arrives with great momentum: the talented Italian earned his HotelPlanner Tour entry thanks to three victories on the Alps Tour this season, including his latest success at the Open de Roissy – Grand Prix PGA France, which allowed him to secure his spot directly.

He will be joined on the course by Matteo Cristoni, Lorenzo Scalise, Jacopo Vecchi Fossa, and Aron Zemmer.
