Scottie Scheffler is once again receiving praise for his behavior away from tournaments after former PGA Tour player Colt Knost revealed what the world No. 1 recently did for a group of junior golfers.
The 30-year-old American was playing a round at Royal Oaks Country Club in Texas when he noticed several young players practicing nearby.
Knost was also playing that day and revealed that Scheffler suddenly decided to approach the youngsters after recognizing one of them.
The former professional golfer explained that the four-time major champion knew that one of the boys had recently won a junior club championship.
Rather than continuing his round, Scheffler walked over to congratulate the young golfer and spent several minutes talking to the group.
Knost shared the story during an appearance on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio, admitting that he was delighted to witness the interaction.

Colt Knost on what Scheffler did at Royal Oaks
The 41-year-old American said he had the opportunity to play alongside Scheffler last Friday at the club where the world No. 1 has practiced since childhood.
«I had an opportunity this past Friday to tee it up with world number one Scottie Scheffler. I just want to tell you the kind of man Scottie Scheffler is,» Knost said.
«We were playing on Friday at Royal Oaks Country Club and the 18th hole is a par five and the back tee box is literally 15 yards from the back end of the range.»
According to Knost, approximately five young golfers were practicing when they approached the final hole.
He believes that some of the children attended Highland Park, where Scheffler also went to school.
«We were walking back playing our hammer wolf game and this is the number one player in the world. There are probably, I would say, five junior golfers on the range. I believe they play at Highland Park, which is where Scottie did as well,» he continued.
The former PGA Tour player then explained how Scheffler recognized the young club champion.
«He’s walking back to the tee and I hear ‘is that the junior club champ over there?’. All the kids turned around and the kid was just shocked, Scottie Scheffler knew the kid won the junior club championship and took time out of his day, walked over there, high fived him, gave him a hug and talked to those juniors for a few minutes while we were playing golf.»
Knost was particularly happy that his playing partner did not need cameras or other people watching him to make the gesture.
«I just loved it so much. He was that kid at one point, following all the pros around. The fact he is now number one in the world and does not forget where he has come from and acts the way he does, when people don’t see it,» he added.

The American also stressed that nobody was filming the interaction.
Knost believes that the young golfer will remember the moment for many years, and that he will probably tell his friends at school that Scheffler knew about his achievement.
The world No. 1 has a long history with Royal Oaks Country Club, having been a member since he was six years old.
He also met his longtime coach Randy Smith there. The experienced instructor has continued working with the American throughout his professional career.
Scheffler also showed sportsmanship at the Presidents Cup
Scheffler made headlines for another gesture during the Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club in September.
The American was facing Colombia’s Nico Echavarria in a singles match when a spectator shouted during his opponent’s backswing on the 14th hole.
Echavarria hit a poor tee shot after the interruption, prompting Scheffler to confront the spectator.
«There’s just no place for that,» the world No. 1 said following the incident.
Scheffler then decided to concede a long par putt to his opponent, although he was under no obligation to do so.
The Colombian was surprised by the decision and thanked the American after their match.
«We have the No. 1 player in the world who is a class act. I wasn’t expecting for him to give me that putt for par,» Echavarria said.
Scheffler eventually defeated Echavarria 2 and 1, helping the United States secure a 17-13 victory over the International Team.

The 30-year-old finished the competition with three victories and one defeat.
Earlier this year, Scheffler also enjoyed another successful PGA Tour season, winning three tournaments.
He started his campaign by taking the American Express title in January, which was his 20th PGA Tour victory.
The American later won the FedEx St. Jude Championship and added another trophy at the Tour Championship.
Despite failing to win a major championship in 2026, he finished the season with 22 PGA Tour victories and remained at the top of the world rankings.
Scheffler has previously spoken about how important his family and personal life are to him, making it clear that golf is not the only thing that matters.
His latest interaction with the young players at Royal Oaks has now given Knost another reason to praise the four-time major winner.
