Frenchman Alexandre Vandermoten wrote the first chapter of the 2026 season of the Italian Pro Tour presented by Buccellati with a dominant performance. At Villa Paradiso Golf Club, home of the first stop on the circuit (and the Alps Tour), the Frenchman earned his first professional victory with a total score of 202, 14 under par, thanks to splits of 67, 65, and 70. It was a wire-to-wire victory, built day after day, with impressive control of his game and the ability to counter every comeback attempt.

The Villa Paradiso course, designed by architect Franco Piras, proved to be a worthy stage for the event. Immersed in the splendid natural setting of the Adda Nord Regional Park, between the bends of the Adda River and the Brianza hills, the championship course is one of the most beautiful and technical gems of Italian golf. Wide yet strategic fairways, fast and carefully defended greens, natural hazards, and a top-notch driving range: everything contributed to making this first edition of the Villa Paradiso Alps Open a success. A varied, modern, and never boring course, it rewards precision and game management over pure power. A «Lombardy jewel» that enchanted the 132 players on the course and offered spectators a high-level golf spectacle just 20 minutes from Milan and Bergamo.

On the final day, Vandermoten masterfully managed the lead he had built up in the first two rounds (after 36 holes, he was 12 points behind, including a spectacular albatross on the 11th in the second round). A final 70 allowed him to hold off his pursuers and cross the finish line first. In second place, tied at 11 points (205 strokes), were Irishman Robert Moran (71-66-68) and Spaniard Pablo Alperi (70-64-71). The latter made his mark with an incredible 64 (-8) in the second round, a new course record, a performance that will remain in the annals of the club.

Fourth was Frenchman Tom Gueant (69-69-68) with a -10 finish (206), while England’s Archie Smith finished fifth with a -8 finish (208) (70-68-70).

Among the Italians, the best performance was that of Michele Ortolani, sixth with a -7 finish (209, partial scores 69-70-70), the top Italian in the standings. Close behind, at -6 (210), was a trio of Italians: Andrea Romano (69-71-70), Enrico Di Nitto (71-71-68), and Flavio Michetti (70-65-75). Michetti, who teed off in the lead after a strong second round, suffered a final score of 75 that dropped him from the provisional podium, but he nevertheless demonstrated his ability to compete at a high level.

Sebastiano Moro (Am) with a total of -2 (72-70-72) was named the top amateur in the field.

With this result, Andrea Romano maintains his lead in the Italian Pro Tour rankings with 14,879.25 points. Behind him are Robert Moran and Mario Galiano Aguilar, confirming that the battle for the seasonal lead is only just beginning.
