Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald will play in the DS Automobiles 83rd Italian Open at Circolo Golf Torino from June 25 to 28. The former world number one, who led Team Europe to victory in the last two Ryder Cups, will return to Italy for the first time since their 2023 triumph against Team USA at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Guidonia Montecelio (Rome).

Donald, who also spearheaded the European success in New York in 2025 (his first overseas continental success since 2012), thus became the second European captain to win both home and away.

His goal is to make history by lifting the Ryder Cup trophy in Ireland, at Adare Manor, in 2027, becoming the first captain to lead a team to three consecutive victories.

Donald, a 48-year-old Englishman and seven-time winner on the DP World Tour, will make his sixth appearance in the Italian Open at the Circolo Golf Torino (the first was in 2017). The DS Automobiles 83rd Italian Open will be the penultimate event of the DP World Tour’s European Swing, the fourth of five Global Swings included in the Race to Dubai 2026. This year will mark the return to the Circolo Golf Torino, where the tournament was held in 1999, 2013, and 2014. The tournament’s prize pool is $3 million, with 3,500 Race to Dubai points up for grabs.

Donald will be reunited with Francesco and Edoardo Molinari at the Circolo Golf Torino. The two brothers, who were vice-captains in both of the last Ryder Cup victories, were born in Turin and will play on home soil, having spent much of their youth at the Circolo Golf Torino.

“Edoardo and Francesco have been an extraordinary part of the Ryder Cup support team,” said Donald. “I can’t wait to play them on the course. It’s going to be a fantastic week.”
