Tranlate this title LIV, PIF is also scaling back its involvement in spanish

The Saudi sovereign wealth fund is continuing its gradual withdrawal from golf. Following the decision to stop funding the Asian Tour’s International Series—and as the PIF seeks to sever its remaining ties with LIV Golf—the Ladies European Tour is now also affected. The lucrative PIF Global Series, which boasts a $15 million prize purse for 2026, will be discontinued next season.

This marks another major shift in Saudi Arabia’s golf strategy. In 2027, the PIF will cease funding the PIF Global Series, which currently comprises five Ladies European Tour (LET) tournaments with a combined prize purse of $15 million.

Investment had actually increased recently; the five events offered a total of $13 million in 2025. Between 2021 and 2024, the series was known as the Aramco Team Series, with prize purses generally hovering around the $1 million mark.

For the LET, this loss is significant. Many regular events on the women’s European tour offer prize purses of $500,000 or less.

However, the final two events of the 2026 series—held in South Korea and China, each with a $2 million purse—will still go ahead as planned.

This does not, however, represent a total withdrawal. Golf Saudi has stated that it intends to focus its investments on developing golf within Saudi Arabia, supporting the full LET season, and backing a major women’s tournament.

Notably, the organization will continue to support a London-based tournament in 2027 that is co-sanctioned by the LET and the LPGA Tour, with the prize purse set to rise to $4 million. The event is scheduled for July 22–25, one week before the AIG Women’s Open.

The Saudi Ladies International, which will offer a $5 million prize purse in 2026, also remains a key fixture on the calendar.

Above all, Golf Saudi will become the sponsor of the Ladies European Tour’s overall rankings—currently the Race to Costa del Sol—under a multi-year agreement.
