The Pro-Am kicked off the Italian Challenge Open, a HotelPlanner Tour competition that will see the stars of Europe’s second-largest circuit take to the green at the Golf Nazionale in Sutri (VT) from May 7 to 10. The tournament, with 155 participants and 24 nationalities represented, is the third seasonal event of the Italian Pro Tour presented by Buccellati following the Villa Paradiso Alps Open and the Miglianico Alps Open.

The Pro-Am, played over 18 holes with the «Tour Scramble – net aggregate team score in relation to par» and «Use your pro» formula, saw Lucas Nicolas Fallotico’s team of Agapito Sforzini, Maurizio Paolini, and Massimo Tempesta win with a score of «minus 44.» In second place, with a 35-point gap, is the team led by Englishman David Horsey, featuring Federico Carletti, Flaminia Cilento, and Bruno Cirulli, and in third, with a 34-point gap, is Lorenzo Scalise’s team, featuring Armando Borghi, Antonio Villa, and Riccardo Vignolo. Taking part in the event, demonstrating how golf is a social activity and open to all, were the three Paralympic golfers Alessandro Petrianni, Edoardo Biagi, and Antonino Puccio.

The teams awarded with the book from the Franco Chimenti Foundation – During the awards ceremony, attended by Armando Antonio Carole Borghi, President of the National Golf Association and Federal Councilor, and Vittorio Andrea Vaccaro, Federal Councilor representing professional athletes, the FIG honored the members of the top three teams with the book «Solo i grandi vincono così,» an exclusive 304-page collector’s volume dedicated to golf and promoted by the Franco Chimenti Foundation. The book (available for purchase at www.fondazionefrancochimenti.org) is the first in a series of activities promoted by the Chimenti family with the aim of raising funds for the Franco Chimenti Foundation to support the next generation of young golfers and develop medical research projects.

The stars of the HotelPlanner Tour will compete – The stars of this season’s start will be on the tee. Starting with England’s Will Enefer, ranked second in the Road to Mallorca (order of merit), and South Africa’s MJ Viljoen, ranked third, both season winners. The spotlight will also be on South Africa’s Deon Germishuys (ranked fourth), Sweden’s Christofer Blomstrand (ranked sixth), France’s Maxence Giboudot (ranked ninth), the United States’ Jhared Hack (ranked 10th), and India’s Saptak Talwar (ranked 11th), the latter two enjoying strong form, as evidenced by their second-place finishes in the previous DP World PGTI Open.
