A wide-ranging interview aired on The Rough Cut Golf Podcast, with a speaker who, as usual, did not disappoint: Ian James Poulter.

According to Poulter, this feature is a hidden plan by the PGA Tour to «appropriate» LIV Golf’s most important assets, given the need for PGAT to monetize its business:

«The PGA Tour is compressing its schedule. They need to monetize their business as quickly as possible. Brian Rolapp stated that negotiations are underway for a TV rights agreement.»

And it is precisely from this need to monetize that Poulter’s proposal stems:

«There’s a lot of stress and pressure on the PGA Tour to monetize.»

«I don’t have the perfect solution, but we could add three more teams, and there’s certainly the possibility of reaching a reciprocity agreement on a limited basis, and there’s definitely room for twelve players—not just four—to play in some PGA Tour tournaments.»

Poulter’s hypothesis is extremely practical and linear, with a very clear quid pro quo, which would not distort the approach of either of the two Tours.

The first documents attesting to the existence of rules of golf date back to March 1744. The rules were produced for a competition to be held at a Scottish golf club, and contained 13 points in total.[3] Initially, writing the rules was the responsibility of each individual club and so they varied depending on where the game was played.
