Sweden’s Mikael Lindberg won his first DP World Tour title with a 278 (66, 73, 70, 69, -10) at the Turkish Airlines Open. Mikael Lindberg, a 33-year-old from Stockholm, had only achieved four top-ten finishes in his previous 69 tournaments on the circuit, but was coming off a third-place finish at the Volvo China Open. His list of achievements also includes two victories on the Challenge Tour, five in the Nordic Golf League, and one on the Swedish Golf Tour. Thanks to the title, he received a $467,500 check from a $2,750,000 prize pool. More importantly, he rose to first place in the final Asian Swing rankings, the third of the five «Global Swings» into which the calendar is divided. Migliozzi (71 71 68 70), a 29-year-old from Vicenza, started in 37th place, then climbed to third via 23rd, and finished the tournament with a 70 (-2, three birdies, one bogey), the only player to have shot all four of his daily scores under par. De Leo (69 68 73 72), a 26-year-old from Biella, led the second round and was close behind Lindberg in the fourth until he was hampered by a one-stroke penalty for slow play on the 11th hole, which perhaps also caused him to lose some concentration in the closing round (72, par, four birdies, four bogeys). Lower down in the rankings are Edoardo Molinari, a 45-year-old from Turin, re-appointed as Team Europe’s vice-captain for the upcoming Ryder Cup, ranked 53rd with a 290 (71, 74, 72, 73, +2) and playing his first matches after an injury, and Renato Paratore, a 29-year-old from Rome, ranked 70th with a 294 (76, 69, 72, 77, +6). Those who failed to make the cut were Francesco Laporta, ranked 80th with a 146 (74, 72, +2), Francesco Molinari, ranked 105th with a 148 (69, 79, +4), Stefano Mazzoli, ranked 118th with a 149 (74, 75, +5), and Filippo Celli, ranked 132nd with a 151 (74, 77, +7).
