On the Golf Nazionale course (par 72) in Sutri (VT), Wood finished with a 66 (-6), scoring the last of six birdies on the 18th hole, one stroke ahead of Portugal’s Tomas Gouveia, who had earlier also finished with a birdie (66, -6, eight birdies, two bogeys) and who briefly hoped for a playoff.

In third place with a score of 268 (-20) is England’s Barclay Brown, joint leader after three rounds with Wood and making his first appearance on the circuit of the season, as he currently competes on the Alps Tour. Chris Wood, a 38-year-old from Bristol who has been a pro since 2008, won his first time on the HotelPlanner Tour. In a successful career, he has scored three victories on the DP World Tour, the last in 2018, and one on the OneAsia Tour. He was also a member of Team Europe for the Ryder Cup in 2016. He came into the tournament in good shape, backed by three wins on the Mena Golf Tour. «I’m really happy,» he said, «with this victory, which came at the end of a competition against top-level opponents like Tomas Gouveia and Barclay Brown, who hit some spectacular shots.
