Butch Harmon, a well-known face of the golf scene, commented on several reasons why Trump did not become a member of the most exclusive golf club. Harmon believes that Trump’s personality does not fit the profile of a person who could become a member of Augusta National.

«I think you can answer that yourself, because he’s Trump,» Harmon said, as quoted by Give me Sport.

“I think he is who he is. He’s full of himself. He’s the type of person that I don’t think fits the profile of an Augusta member.

I’ve known him most of my whole life, because his father was a member of Winged Foot, so I’ve known Donald pretty much my whole life.

What you see is what you get with him. And I don’t think his personality fits the membership at Augusta.

He also mentioned former US presidents who played at Augusta National, but were not members, pointing out that their character was significantly different from Trump’s.

“I don’t think that (being president) has anything to do with it, because there’s been a lot of other presidents who played golf, and they’re not members. Clinton, Obama, they played golf. I think it’s just his personality doesn’t mix with that particular club. That’s as politically correct as I can be.”

Fans are wondering if Trump will be present at this year’s Masters, but so far there is not much information about that. The American president attended last year’s Ryder Cup, in which the American team was defeated by the European team. 

Butch Harmon points out that, regardless of the power and influence of Donald Trump, he will still not have the opportunity to become a member, because the club remains true to its ideals.

US citizens unhappy with his excessive focus on golf

The US media were frustrated by his moves almost a month ago, when in the midst of the conflict with Iran, Trump decided to visit the golf course.

While the conflict between the US and Iran threatens to escalate in the wider regional framework, American President Donald Trump decided to go golfing again. It was the sixth time since the start of US attacks on Iran on February 28 that Trump took the opportunity to relax on the golf course.

The very next day he went golfing again, which drew criticism for the optics of the first full day of the war.

On the third day, he was again on the neighboring course in Mar-a-Lago.

On the fourth day, he was relaxing again with his favorite sport instead of returning to Washington for briefings.

After a four-day break, he returned to golf when he traveled to Florida, amid ongoing military operations.

He played for the sixth time on the courts of Trump National Doral in Miami, where he hosted the summit and spent the night.

While the public often raises their voice because of his excessive focus on the world of golf, rather than on issues of importance to US citizens, Trump has no intention of moving away from his views, believing that he and his associates are doing the right things for the benefit of not only the United States, but also the entire planet.
