Brooks Koepka has had several excellent performances on the PGA Tour, but it seems that the experienced golfer is still not at his best level.

The American competed in the last PGA Championship dissatisfied with his game, aware that he could have done significantly more.

Brooks Koepka finished tied for 55th at the PGA Championship last week, making serious mistakes on the final two holes when he played three shots over par. With a bad putt, Koepka did not have a good foundation to advance.

The experienced golfer joins Scottie Scheffler in the field at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in Texas.

He hopes to improve in the coming weeks and make a success.

Brooks Koepka pinned his recent struggles on his putting, confirming he’s switching to a new putter this week. He admitted he just couldn’t find his rhythm on the greens, prompting him to go back to basics to get his game back on track.

“I think it’s one I’ve had. I might have — I was just with Blake, my agent, and Ricky, and they said I might have used in Singapore maybe last year, two years ago. I’ve used it before,“ he said.

“Yeah, it’s something that just feels good in my hands. I feel like I’ve struggled with the toe release a little bit, kind of fighting that, kind of holding it off, and this putter seems to have a little bit more toe hang, to get kind of scientific with it or more in depth.

It’s got a bit more toe hang than what I have been using all year, kind of similar to the blade. I know the CG is up closer to the front of the face, which is kind of what I’m looking for.“

The 36-year-old stressed that problems with putting were the reason why he had problems with other aspects of the game. According to Koepka, the frustrations are still there considering that he could have made a better score in the last few holes, but his anger and nervousness resulted in an additional drop.

However, the experienced golfer does not lose hope, aware that the world of golf is changing, and expects that in the rest of the season he will catch the rhythm and go step by step.

“Hopefully I can just find some confidence with it and build some momentum off of it,“ he said.

“I think I look back at last week, which I’m very kind of annoyed with because I kind of let the last couple holes get away from me just from maybe a little bit of anger or annoyance, maybe more of an annoyance thing, of not making any putts and feeling like you’ve got to go at flags.

I had no business going at that flag on 17. Aiming right at it was stupid.

Hopefully I can just find some momentum with it and really kind of start building the groundwork and work my way up from there.“

His aggressive approach has not brought him positive results this week, so Koepka wants to emphasize his mindset, aware that he must strive for calmness and remain composed from start to finish.

Brooks Koepka noted that family was one of the primary reasons why he wanted to return. Returning to the PGA Tour, Brooks shared his joy and excitement, saying he had always dreamed of competing on the PGA Tour, but was just as nervous about the reaction his return would generate.

He previously competed at LIV Golf, producing a lot of negative reactions. This was the reason why he was skeptical about his return and how strong the reaction would be.

However, to his surprise, Brooks was greeted with a warm welcome, the fans reacted positively, therefore it gave him additional strength and motivation.

Although Koepka is not at the level he once was, he still hopes that the rest of the season will be an opportunity for him to catch his rhythm and find his recognizable form and rhythm again.
