Brandt Snedeker has won the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, his first PGA TOUR title in nearly eight years. With a final-round 66 (-5), the 45-year-old American capitalized on his birdie-filled back nine to finish the tournament 18 points behind (266), earning his tenth victory on the tour.

On the 18th hole at Dunes Golf and Beach Club, Snedeker hit a drive right into the trees, had to play it safe on the fairway, and bogeyed after two putts from about 30 feet. He still maintained the lead needed to win.

“I feel great,” said Snedeker, whose last victory came at the 2018 Wyndham Championship. “I feel lucky to still be here doing what I love. Winning a tournament at 45 is really special. I’m pumped.”

Mark Hubbard, seeking his first PGA TOUR title in his 274th start, came very close to a playoff. He also ran into trouble on the right on the 18th, played safely, and missed the par putt from about 25 feet, finishing with a 70. Beau Hossler (68) and Kevin Roy (69) finished third, two shots behind the winner.

The victory secures him a very important two-year exemption, especially after physical problems in recent years related to chest surgery, and a spot in the PGA Championship.

“This win means everything,” Snedeker explained. “I haven’t had a full ticket in the last few years; I’ve been fighting to keep doing what I love. Proving to myself, my family, and my kids that I can still compete at this level is fantastic.”

Among the other standouts, Brooks Koepka finished with a 70, tied for 11th place: he hit the ball well but couldn’t warm up his putter on a course with difficult flags. Excellent result for 18-year-old Blades Brown: with a 67, he finished ninth (his second top 10 of the season), confirming his strong form after finishing third at the Puerto Rico Open. Thanks to this result, he will be competing in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in two weeks.
