Rory McIlroy has been an inevitable topic on the golf scene for years, and the victory at the Masters only drew more attention to the experienced golfer who completed his career grand slam in April this year. Fans wondered if the victory at the Masters could be a turning point for the 35-year-old who had been waiting for years to win the green jacket. 

Well-known figures of the golf scene like Jack Nicklaus predicted after the Masters that McIlroy would dominate even more in the coming weeks, but it seems that for now that is far from the truth. 

Rory did not excel after his performance at Augusta National, and although most expected that he could strengthen the CW with another Major victory, Rory fell short of winning one of them. 

US Open adventure

Rory, on the other hand, caused positive reactions at the US Open, finishing as T19, giving indications that he could return to form in the coming period. 

Rory McIlroy has now turned his attention to the British Open, the final major of the season, which will be played at Royal Portrush in his native Northern Ireland. 

The experienced golfer believes he can make a big step forward, but stresses that it is essential to get the right mindset back and try to achieve success in this tournament.

“If I can’t get motivated to get up for an Open Championship at home, then I don’t know what can motivate me,” McIlroy said. 

“As I said, I just need to get myself in the right frame of mind. I probably haven’t been there the last few weeks.

I climbed my Everest in April, and I think after you do something like that, you’ve got to make your way back down, and you’ve got to look for another mountain to climb. 

An Open at Portrush is certainly one of those.”- he concluded.

It will be quite interesting to see if Rory can make an important step and cause positive reactions in the public with his performance at Royal Portrush in a few weeks.
